Megan Edwards is a graduate of St. Joseph’s University and is a 5th grade teacher in the Philadelphia School District. Katie MacTurk, also a St. Joseph’s University graduate, is a senior research associate at a market research firm.

Megan and Katie met at St. Joe’s in 2008. They had a brief encounter as part of a weekly student group (read: they set sights on each other) and then really met at a party a mutual friend hosts. It was one of those rare, instant connections and the couple has been together ever since.

Now, the juicy and cute deets regarding the proposal : Katie proposed to Megan on October 8, 2011. Megan was with Katie when they bought the ring, but had no idea when Katie planned to pick it up or when she was going to pop the question.

On October 8, 2011 Meg and Katie went for a picnic behind the Art Museum.  Meg reached for the bottle of wine, checked out the label, and realized it was personalized with Katie’s proposal. She looked up, and Katie was holding the ring. Of course she said yes!  (cue birds chirping and kittens and baby deer and other adorable things.)

The wedding is planned for July 6, 2013 at the Top of the Tower (50th and 51st Floors of 3 Logan Square – seriously breathtaking views of the city.) The couple will hold a small legal ceremony in Washington, D.C. a week or two beforehand but the big to-do with family, friends, dresses, cake, etc. will be here in Philly, where they fell in love.

Congrats Katie & Meg!
