14th Annual Philly Dyke March: June 9, 2012

Philly Dyke March

Calling all Philly femmes, butches, girls, bois, lesbians, queers, gender-benders, and all otherwise self-identified dykes and allies: the 14th Annual Philly Dyke March is coming to a street near you on Saturday, June 9.

Since 1998, the Philly Dyke March has been an opportunity for self-identified dykes to gather, march, and rally. The March supports the dyke voice and experience, and focuses on the wants, needs, and demands of the community.

This year’s lineup of speakers and performers include drag troupe Liberty City Kings (aka LiCK), singer-songwriters Crystal Cheatham and Anessa LaRae, and more. The Rally begins at 3 p.m. in Kahn Park, 11th and Pine. The March kicks off at 4 p.m. with a new route, being kept secret until the day of.

“Philadelphia Dyke March has always been a space of empowerment, solidarity, and visibility,” says Morgan Levine, a member of the planning committee. “I’m excited about 2012 being a year of new precedents. This includes setting a new attendance record, inviting all Allies to join us during the March, and a significant new route.”
