Phillesbian.com announces the engagement of Ivette Reyes (of Pennington, NJ) to Jubi Kan (of Philadelphia, PA).
Ivette, age 31, is a lead teacher at the Goddard School; Jubi, age 30, works two part-time jobs at the University of Penn hospital and goes to school full-time at Moore College of Art & Design.
The couple met while both working at Juicy Couture in the King of Prussia Mall in 2007. “Right off the bat, we both had one thing in common: we were both completely out of our element, working at the ‘upscale boutique,’” says Jubi.
Subtle flirting soon led to a full-fledged relationship, and on September 27, Jubi popped the question:
“I asked Ivette to look at the ‘new’ pictures I took of our puppy Warhol,” she says. “When she got to the last frame, it was a picture of me holding an index card that said ‘Will you marry me?’ written in sharpie pens. She said of course, hugged me, and took it as one of my ‘jk, I’m so cute,’ gestures.”
Jubi then reached under the pillow case and pulled out the ring, looked at Ivette, and said “Really, that’s a yes?” while opening the box. “Ivette’s eyes got huge and her response was, ‘Oh my God!’ Then she teared up and shrieked, ‘Yes, Yes Yes!’”
The two now reside in University City along with their chocolate lab pitt, Warhol (a gift from Ivette to Jubi for her 30th birthday). “People who know us, know that it took a lot to make this relationship get to where it is now, and we’ve managed to weed out all the negative stuff,” says Jubi. “So for those rocky ones out there, fight for what you want but if you don’t win, she’ll return. And that’s when you know she’s the one!”
While no official date has been set yet, the wedding will most likely happen in spring of 2014.
Congrats Jubi & Ivette!
