Community aims to raise $10K for Tara Lessard

If you live in Philadelphia and have ever been to an LGBT event in the city, chances are, you’ve encountered Tara Lessard. Her photography company, Freedom G Photography, has shot hundreds of events over the years, from the Philly Dyke March to Philly Pride and countless others.

Tara was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and friends have come together to raise money to help her with medical expenses during this challenging time. Diane Matkowski of Freedom Massage is spearheading a fundraising event to take place on January 10 at William Way.

At the event, Matkowski will be teaching basic massage techniques and discussing self-care, and her staff will also be providing free 10 minute chair massages. Other speakers include Yogi Marcy Mackay and Dawn Smelser, owner of MotherHeart Studio in Fishtown. Food donations have been provided courtesy of Tim Adams, The Fieldhouse, and Crystal Fox, Giorgio on Pine. There are also several items available in a silent auction, including a one-year membership to Optimal Sport Health Club, an Apple iPad Air 32GB, and a framed original ink drawing of the Divine Lorraine hotel, courtesy of Natalie Hope McDonald.

More than $3,600 has been raised as part of a crowd-funding effort, as well. To donate, please visit: https://www.youcaring.com/tara-lessard-485933.
