3rd Annual Sex Positivity Conference Returns to Philly

Sex Positive Events

A team of sex-positive community leaders are excited to host SEXx 3.0 on Wednesday, May 11. The event—entirely devoted to promoting healthy discussions of sexuality—was founded in 2014 and will feature several “TEDx” style presentations on a range of sexuality-related topics. Directly following the presentations, the audience will take a short walk to Franky Bradley’s to conclude the evening with a series of live performances portraying sex and sexuality. All proceeds from SEXx 3.0 will benefit the William Way Community Center.

“Our society is so sex-negative and full of shame, fear, and secrecy,” says co-founder Elicia Gonzales. “I want to be a part of helping our communities celebrate sexuality, be body positive, combat stigma, engage in frank conversations, and acknowledge that we are all sexual beings deserving of being our whole selves.”

The first TEDxstyle event took place in May 2014 and last year, the committee hosted SEXx Interactive – a first-of-its-kind three-day conference filled with workshops, performances, an art exhibit, and dance parties.

“When we started the event,” says SEXx co-founder Dr. Timaree Schmit of Sex with Timaree, “we were pleasantly surprised by how many people were excited to talk about sexuality in a nuanced, mature, interesting way. Academics were presenting alongside reporters, tantra practitioners, and members of the leather scene.”

For more information or to buy tickets, please visit the Facebook page or http://sexx30.eventbrite.com. Both events are $5-$20 sliding scale (Franky Bradley’s only $5 if you attend first event)
